My nieces hats for Christmas!

I wanted them to be the same, but different...since they are twins! :)

1st pattern: www.maggiesrags.com/freeflowerhat.htm

2nd pattern: www.maggiesrags.com/freepothat.htm

I used some yarn that was given to me, had no label, but it was like red heart. I used a varigated yarn and a light pink.

Snake Scarf for Blair!

Finished the snake scarf for my friend's son Blair!

I used the pattern from www.scknitting.com/spring2005/slithering.html

I changed a few things, I used a dark color varigated yarn so I didn't use the fair isle pattern throughout. I also added 3-D eyes (for teddy bears) instead of using black thread. I also put a 'rattler' in the tail. It is so darn cute.

size 8 and size 10 dpn were used.

Red Heart E300 - Mexicana and Black were used.

My first completed intarsia project!

Small, but done! I got the pattern from the Stitch 'n Bitch book (Powerful wrist protection, pg 183).

I LOVE it!

Mikey's Pumpkin Hat!!

Well, you could say that I am getting really good at making mistakes into something nice...or, you could say I really suck at knitting things.

This is yet another goof up that I changed into something. My husband asked me to knit him a bright orange skull cap for hunting. So I started knitting...the pattern was great, just too thin for Wisconsin winters (thats where he hunts)...anyway, I didn't want to frog the whole thing, so I remembered seeing a pumpkin hat on my knitting chicks group and sorta just winged this. I also took a leaf pattern from Kitting on the edge and added that as well. It turned out so darn cute.

I just need to get better at not making mistakes...you think? Ugh! Oh well...

My cat, Bleu, and his toy! He loves it!

Monday, September 12, 2005

This is my weekend update! With all the talking in my knitting group - knitting chicks - I just had to make this hat for my brother in law for Christmas. http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer05/PATTtychus.html It was really easy, but it turned out a little big, but not too bad. Next time, I will use a size smaller needle.

Now, the next project - a water bottle holder (bet your wondering if I have completely lost my mind). Wee, to start with I needed help changing the pattern from crochet to knit...enter Celia from knitting chics...wow is she amazing...she converted the pattern in like 10 minutes. Wow!!! Thanks so much Celia. Anyway, I just had to make it. I followed the pattern and it was perfect - EXCEPT - I HATE HATE HATE the homespun yarn...it looked so bad to me. I just couldn't throw it away...so I added ears, and catnip and made a toy...that my dog stole on the cats. Oh well...at least someone likes it.
My cat is playing with it as I type this now...of course, when I don't have a camera in my hand. Figures, huh?

Now...what to knit now? Probably another water bottle holder in a different fiber.

My first sweater!!! Ok, these are a few pictures of my first sweater...I have 3 balls into the body of the sweater, and I have 1 sleeve done. The sweater is a Christmas gift for my mom...so, hopefully I will get it done in time. I am not that great with sticking with this one...but I pick it up, work on it for awhile, then put it down and do something else.

I am using Plymouth Yarn - Bella Colour...Color 17 Lot 54.

The pattern I am using is from Cascade Yarns - Ribbed mock T-Neck (cypdk108)

Ok...I was making a list of knitting to make for Christmas gifts...and, sadly, I am going to have to put the Ashton scarf away til the gifts get done. Maybe I will do a few rows a week, but, I need to work on gifts...only 3 1/2 months to do the gifts...I have to get working.

Scarfs...hats...purses...hmmm...fun stuff

Day 2 (again...) of the Ashton scarf. I am much happier with the way it is turning out this time. I think I have the intarsia method down now...but all the little bobbins of yarn are still driving me nuts. Oh well, small price to pay.

I have to decide on Christmas gifts for everyone for this year...what to do for everyone is hard for me to decide. Scarfs....hats...mittens...purses...too many choices.

(isn't the little graphic cute??? thank you http://www.cutecolors.com for the great clip art!)

Row 16 of the newly re-started Ashton scarf! Ok...what a difference it makes when you kinda know what your doing. Still a little frustrating...but, I am getting better.

Ok...I started the infamous Ashton scarf over! I had changed the original pattern and decided to stitch it in the round...but everything was then reversed and it looked silly.

So...Ashton scarf take 2! Update later tonight.

This man is making me nuts! Why am I going through this? INSANE I SAY!!!!

Tuesday, September 06, 2005

Ok, I am now on row 17 of my Ashton scarf...and I have decided that I am COMPLETELY insane! Yep, it is official...insane. How could I want to do this scarf??? Am I such a dork fan that I will continue even though I will practically throw myself over a cliff because this thing is driving me nuts?? Yeah, I guess I am. Ashton...you are driving me insane.

The back of the scarf is a MESS, and boy do I mean a mess. But, no one will see the back.

Why oh why didn't I start with something small? INSANE I tell you!

Ok..back to the scarf from hell. I can't wait til I get to the plain black portion of the scarf...then I may regain some sanity. I will post another picture tonight...maybe by then I will be to row 20...geesh...

Ok, this is my first post to my brand new Blog! YEAH!!!

Ok, my project for now...my Christmas Present to myself. An Ashton Kutcher scarf. I saw a scarf on www.knitty.com and had to have one of Ashton (the original pattern: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer05/PATTandre.html ) . I wrote to Rebbecca, the original creator, and she helped me get the basics for designing this scarf only with Ashton. So the picture above is my graph...which is 53 wide x 107 length.

This is my first intarsia/fair isle project, and as of now I have 4 rows done. YIKES!!! I think I will have it done by my 50th birthday (only 14 years to go...I should make that-maybe).

Thanks to the "Knitting Chicks" for helping me with this project...I will update it often.

Thanks also to KASHMORE at www.ashton-kutcher.net for the help with the picture!

Lisa (a brand new blogger!) How exciting!
